That $40 market basket I bought in 2012 is still holding up way better than my fancy fridge

Picked it up from a guy selling handmade baskets at the farmer's market in Portland for $40. I use it every single week for groceries and it's still solid after 13 years, while my $2000 fridge needed a repair last month. Has anyone else had a random cheap item outlast something expensive?

Yeah @jana_hart18 you're totally right honestly. I used to think spending more meant better quality but your skillet story hit home - my cheap plastic trash can is still going while my expensive blender died after two years.

Simple stuff lasts, @jana_hart18 is right - my $20 thermos beats my $400 coffee maker every time.

My grandma's old cast iron skillet was $15 at a garage sale in the 80s. That thing has outlasted three sets of nonstick pans I bought from Target. It's a little beat up and the handle wobbles a bit, but it still cooks eggs better than anything new I've tried. Meanwhile, my fancy espresso machine broke down twice in the first year. Sometimes the cheap stuff just works because it's simple. No circuit boards or complicated parts to mess up.
