The mall Santa who called me out on my fake enthusiasm

I was at the Westfield mall last weekend with my niece and this Santa noticed I was just nodding along while she talked. He looked at me and said 'you're not really feeling this whole thing are you?' and I realized I'd been faking being happy for years. Has anyone else ever had a stranger see through your act like that?

Tbh that Santa was probably just burned out from faking his own enthusiasm for 12 hours straight.

Kinda thought Santa was just doing his thing and not really paying attention. But this actually makes me rethink how much people notice when you're just going through the motions.
