Vent: my building's mailroom went from a ghost town to a hangout spot in 2 months
Honestly I used to grab my mail in like 4 seconds and never see a soul in there. Two months ago the mailboxes got moved to a little room near the front door and something changed, suddenly people are standing around talking. Last Tuesday I was in there for 25 minutes because a woman named Rosa who lives on the 3rd floor started telling me about her grandson's science fair project and then two other neighbors jumped in. Turns out the old mailroom was in the basement by the trash chute and nobody wanted to hang out in a room that smelled like garbage. Now there's a bench and a bulletin board and people actually pin stuff up, someone even taped a photo of their dog with a little caption. I went from knowing zero neighbors to knowing like 8 people in my own building, all because they moved a room 40 feet. Has anyone else seen a small change to a shared space totally flip how people act in it?
