Hot take: switched our prep sheets from paper clipboards to a whiteboard wall and tickets stopped falling apart
Last month at our spot in Portland we kept losing Friday night tickets because the clipboards got greasy and pages stuck together, and two tables got the same app by mistake. I taped up a big whiteboard by the pass and started writing orders in columns instead, one column per station, and the cooks can see the whole board from eight feet back. We went from about four messed up tickets a night to zero over the last 12 services, and nobody has to yell across the line anymore. It costs like $30 for the board and markers versus reprinting tickets all night. Curious if anyone runs a whiteboard and how you handle wiping off the old orders without smearing the wet ones.
