My sous chef talked me into a $300 Japanese mandoline
I bought it for a big catering job needing perfect veggie slices. The thing cut my thumb so bad I needed three stitches after the first onion. Now it sits in a drawer while I go back to my old knife. Anyone have a safer tool for high volume slicing?

Ever try one of those food processor attachments? Mine's ugly but it hasn't sent me to the ER yet.

My sister's fancy shredder disk launched a carrot like a rocket once, put a dent in her cabinet. The basic blade might be boring, but boring doesn't involve vegetable shrapnel.

Hasn't sent me to the ER yet" is the real review we all need, @tara_patel. I stick with the basic blade because those fancy attachments always seem to have one weird part that jams or just doesn't work right. Keeping it simple means it actually gets used.
