Shoutout to the guy who talked me into a $15 fish spatula

I used to think a fish spatula was a gimmick. Last month I was flipping delicate sole fillets at work and they kept falling apart on me. A line cook handed me his fish spatula and said just try it. First flip was perfect, thin and flexible but sturdy enough to lift. Has anyone else had a cheap tool completely change how you prep something?

Read somewhere that professional kitchens swear by fish spatulas for more than just fish, like flipping eggs or sliding under cookies without breaking them. I grabbed one from a restaurant supply store for around ten bucks after that because it made sense. The slots let oil drip off but still keep the food stable, which beats a regular spatula getting stuck every time. Now I use it for pretty much anything on a griddle or pan where you need a thin edge.

@rubysingh, that ten dollar supply store trick really is a game changer for delicate flipping, glad it worked out.

Bought one last year and now my old spatulas just sit in the drawer.
