TIL my fancy immersion blender has a secret turbo mode
I was pureeing soup and it shot hot liquid all over my apron. Now my kitchen looks like a modern art project, lmao.

Wow, I did that with butternut squash soup once.

Honestly alex_white has a point about the steam. Tbh the real trick is to not fill the blending cup more than halfway, even if the soup is warm. That extra space gives the steam and thick puree somewhere to go besides up and out. Ngl I learned that after redecorating my ceiling with sweet potato.

That turbo mode is no joke, definitely learned the hard way like jennifer_rivera probably did. Best trick is to pulse it in really short bursts for thicker stuff. Letting the soup cool just a bit before blending helps a ton too.

Hey, about letting the soup cool a bit, that might not help with thick stuff. If it cools down, the soup can get too thick and jam the blender. It's better to blend when it's warm but not super hot to stop steam from building up. Try pulsing with the lid cracked open or hold a towel over it. I had a messy kitchen once from not doing that.
