TIL that fancy $100 chef's knife I bought is actually worse than my old $30 one

Bought a $150 German blade once and went back to my old Victorinox within a week.

@anthony_campbell88 Did you find the Swiss stuff just felt more natural in the hand or was it the steel quality? I've tried fancy ones too and always end up back with my old beat up Victorinox lol.

Flip it around and say the fancy blades actually do hold an edge way longer if you're using them daily. I've had a Benchmade for three years now and it still slices through cardboard like it's butter while my friend's Victorinox needs a sharpening every couple months. The ergonomics argument is real too, my German knife fits my hand so well I forget it's there, the Swiss ones always feel a bit too thin in the handle for my grip. Just saying, you might be missing out if you never give the expensive stuff a real shot past the first week.
