Vent: That cilantro order that I thought was fine but wasn't

Last Tuesday I got a delivery of 12 cases of cilantro for our Saturday special. I did the quick sniff test and everything smelled fine, so I tossed it in the walk-in. By Thursday I pulled it out for prep and it was basically wilted slime - cost me $180 and 3 hours of my sous' time to fix the menu. Turns out the stems were already going brown at the cut end, but I missed it because I was rushing between tickets. How do you guys check leafy herbs during a busy week without slowing down service?

Saturday is your busiest day but you left herbs sit since Tuesday.

Yo @joel_hall17 I feel that pain so much. One time I had a whole batch of fresh rosemary and thyme I grabbed on Tuesday for a big Saturday catering order. I got swamped with other stuff and totally forgot about them until Friday night. What saved me was I prepped them right away that night even though I was dead tired. I stripped the leaves and chopped them up, then sealed them in a damp paper towel inside a ziplock bag. They were still good Saturday morning when I needed them. So if you can get to those herbs ASAP and give them some quick TLC, you might still salvage them for your busy day.

Nah, sometimes life gets wild and you grab stuff early hoping to prep later but it doesn't always work out that way lol.
