Ethanol gas sat in my tank for 11 months, carb is a mess now

I pulled my '68 Mustang out of storage last week and it barely idled, sputtering and coughing until it died. I figured it was the fuel pump or maybe a gummed up needle valve, but after tearing the carb down in my driveway in Fresno, I found this greenish varnish crust all over the float bowls and jets. Turns out I left regular E10 gas in there all winter and spring, and I never even thought about it because the car ran fine before I parked it. A buddy of mine who restores old Jags said he only runs ethanol-free premium and drains the bowl every time before storage. I spent 6 hours cleaning passages with carb cleaner and compressed air, and I still need to replace the accelerator pump diaphragm. Anyone else deal with this after a long sit, or do you guys just add stabilizer and call it good?
