Found out my 1966 Mustang only weighed 2,445 lbs from the factory and I've been lying about it for years
I was digging through an old spec sheet on a forum last week and saw the curb weight listed at 2,445 pounds for a base hardtop with the straight six. I've been telling people at car shows mine weighs around 2,800 ever since I bought it in 2019, and now I feel like a total fraud. Anyone else find a number like that and realize they had the whole story wrong?
Remembered buying a set of scales at a yard sale years back thinking I'd finally settle the weight debate on my old Chevelle. Turns out the thing was off by like 200 pounds and I spent a whole summer arguing with guys at the track using bad numbers. My buddy still brings it up every time someone talks curb weight, like I personally insulted his family. The funny part is nobody really knows what their car weighs once you add a spare tire, tools, and half a tank of gas. So yeah, you're not a fraud, you're just like the rest of us guessing out loud.
