Pro tip: Never let a guy at the Jefferson City swap meet 'hold' your parts while you grab cash
Went to the big swap meet in Jefferson City last Saturday with $600 in my pocket and a list. Found a guy with a table full of early 60s Impala trim, the exact pieces I needed for my 62. He said he'd hold a set of wheel covers for me while I walked to the ATM across the lot, and me being a trusting idiot, I left them sitting right there on his table. Came back 15 minutes later and the wheel covers were gone and so was he. Fellow vendor next to him said the guy packed up fast and rolled out in a white van with no plates. Six hundred dollars in my pocket and I still felt robbed. Now I carry cash in my boot, never leave a part in anyone's hands, and if a seller won't take what I've got right then, I just walk. Cost me a lesson but I got a decent set of taillight bezels from a different vendor for $40 after. Anyone else get burned at a swap meet, or am I the only one who trusted the wrong table?
