Warning: found out my '67 Chevelle only got 11 mpg from the factory window sticker
Was digging through the glovebox and found the original dealer paperwork from a lot in Toledo, and it says 11 mpg city. No wonder I cry at the pump every week, so how bad is everyone else's big block on gas?
11 mpg city" is honestly the factory being optimistic. That number was probably recorded going downhill with a tailwind and a driver who weighed 90 pounds. My 454 Suburban gets maybe 9 on a good day, and by "good day" I mean one where I don't floor it to merge. The only real fix is to stop doing math at the pump, because nothing good comes from dividing dollars by miles. Just fill it up, don't look at the total, and tell yourself the smiles per gallon are worth it.
