Am I the only one who noticed the houses on my block in Old Brooklyn get way better looking in 5 years?
I drive down my street in Old Brooklyn twice a day and I swear the whole block looks different than it did when I moved in back in 2019. Five years ago half the houses had those faded aluminum awnings and shutters that were peeling, and now most of them have actual wood trim, new porch rails, and paint that isn't that sun-bleached yellow. I counted about 14 houses out of 30 that got some kind of face lift since 2021, mostly people ripping off the old storm doors and putting up real railings on the front steps. I think it's the same handful of neighbors who started it, guys who fixed up their own places and then everyone else figured it was worth the money. Prices around here jumped too, so a lot of folks probably pulled equity and put it back into the outside. I'm curious if this is just my street or if the whole west side is doing the same porch and trim thing right now.
