Downspout got clogged during a storm and flooded my basement in Parma last month
I was at work and my wife called me saying water was coming in through the basement window well. I rushed home and found the downspout on the back corner of the house completely plugged with leaves and muck from that big windstorm we had. Water had backed up and was pouring over the gutters right into the window well. I grabbed a tarp and some sandbags to keep more water out but it was already too late. Had to pull up the carpet in the basement and run a dehumidifier for three days straight. The gutter guard I put up two years ago didn't help as much as I thought it would. Has anyone found a way to keep those downspouts clear without having to climb up there every few months?

Those flush mount pop up drains work way better than extension tubes for heavy rain.

Wait, you're saying extension tubes don't work in heavy rain?

Read something a while back from a gutter installer saying the same thing. Said extension tubes just don't have enough slope to move water fast when it's really coming down, so they end up backing up and overflowing.
