Finally picked new siding for my house in Parma last month
I was stuck between vinyl and fiber cement for weeks, but went with vinyl because it was $3,000 cheaper for my 1,200 square foot house. So far it looks great but I'm worried about hail damage after that storm we had. Anyone else have vinyl that held up ok in a bad hailstorm?

Vinyl's one of those things where you save now but pay later with stuff like that... I've seen it crack in hail and then you're stuck replacing whole sections instead of just patching.

@the_faith makes a good point about cracking, but one thing nobody's talking about is how vinyl handles the sun vs fiber cement color wise. My neighbor's fiber cement faded unevenly after a few years, so maybe the savings today help you swap out a damaged panel or two later without it looking weird.

My buddy had vinyl siding for ten years and it never faded a bit, just looked dusty.
