Found a way to stop my basement door from sticking every winter

The door to my utility room in the basement would always jam shut when the weather got cold and damp. I tried planing it down a bit last year, but it just stuck again this November. On a whim, I rubbed a bar of plain soap along the top edge of the door frame where it was catching. It slides open perfectly now, no sticking at all. Has anyone in Cleveland found a better fix for this, or is soap the go-to?

Right? My grandma swore by plain bar soap for everything! She even used it to wash her hair sometimes. It's crazy how well the simple stuff works.

Honestly, that sounds rough on your hair. Plain soap strips all the oils and leaves a weird film. My hair would be a tangled mess.
