Just learned my $1,800 furnace tune-up plan was a waste after a 20 minute chat with a retired HVAC guy in Parma
He said my 12 year old Carrier unit only needs a $30 filter change twice a year and a good vacuum of the burners, not the $150 spring and fall service visits I have been paying for since 2019, so now I am wondering if anyone else around Cleveland has dropped their service contract and just done the basics themselves.

I read somewhere that service plans are mostly profit for the company, not real upkeep.
