My 12th roof leak finally pushed me to learn how to flash a chimney myself

Found out the hard way that a $90 flashing kit and 4 hours of YouTube beat the $450 I was quoted by a roofer in Parma last weekend. Has anyone else DIYed their own chimney flashing or am I just asking for trouble with the next heavy rain?

Did the same thing last year after getting quotes that made no sense. Mine's held through two winters now, just make sure you seal the step flashing tight against the brick or you'll be back up there sooner than you think.
