Put $600 into a sump pump battery backup after that July flood...
After that big storm last July my basement took on about 4 inches of water because the power went out and my pump just sat there dead. I paid a guy $600 to install a battery backup system and it's already kicked on twice during storms this fall. Anybody else in Cleveland deal with this or am I the only one paranoid about another flood?

$600 seems steep for something that just sits in the corner.

Have you checked if your homeowner's insurance covers any of that? I learned the hard way that a decent backup can save way more than $600 in spoiled food and water damage after a storm hits. A cheap one just isn't worth the headache when you really need it.
