The week my basement flooded 3 times in 5 days
Last Tuesday I woke up to 2 inches of water in my basement in Parma. Called a plumber and he said it was a busted pipe under the slab, $1,800 to fix it. Thursday morning it flooded again, same spot, and I found out the guy didn't even seal the new pipe right. By Saturday I had a second plumber out who charged me $600 more and finally fixed it right. Has anyone else dealt with a plumber who just half-asses the job like that?

My neighbor in Strongsville had the exact same thing happen with a slab leak last year. He ended up filing a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's office against the first plumber and got $900 back because the guy didn't have a proper license on file. Might be worth checking if your first guy was actually bonded or insured before you pay anything else.

Funny you mention checking if the guy was bonded... my cousin in Parma found out the hard way that the state only requires a $5,000 bond for residential work, which barely covers anything if they mess up. Did your neighbor ever find out if that first plumber actually had a valid Ohio contractor's license number on their truck or paperwork? Seems like half the guys running ads on Nextdoor are just operating under someone else's umbrella and don't have their own insurance.

Man that first guy sounds like a total hack. $1,800 and he can't even seal a pipe right, that's ridiculous. I had a plumber in Lakewood leave a mess like that once and it took me months to get the refund sorted out. Hope you kept all the receipts and photos for your case.
