Vent: My new sump pump just saved my basement from a huge mess
We had that heavy rain last week and my old pump failed. I spent about $300 on a new one with a battery backup and it ran for almost 12 hours straight. Anyone have a good plumber for installing these things right?

Totally agree, it's the cheap plastic part you never think about. Saw a neighbor's house flood because a ten dollar washing machine hose gave out while they were on vacation. Makes you want to go check every little connector and valve in your own place right now. That kind of small failure can cause tens of thousands in damage so easily. Really changes how you look at routine maintenance.
