Bought a $60 smart thermostat last summer and my AC bill dropped fast
I finally swapped out my old dumb thermostat for a basic smart one from the hardware store. It was only $60 and took like 20 minutes to install. My electric bill went down about $25 a month just from setting a schedule and turning off the AC when I'm not home. Plus it tracks my usage so I can see exactly when I'm wasting energy. Has anyone else seen real savings from a small change like this? I'm thinking about doing more small upgrades around the house now.

Yeah I gotta agree with @ellis.susan, $25 seems like a lot for just a schedule change unless you were running the AC nonstop before. Maybe it depends on your climate and how big your house is though. I'd bet most people see closer to $10-15 a month from that kind of tweak.

$25 a month savings" - that seems a bit high for just setting a schedule.

My parents started doing this last year and @ellis.susan has a point, $25 a month feels like one of those "your mileage may vary" things that gets thrown around online. I swear half the time people just repeat the biggest number they heard without checking their own bill lol.
