Carbon offsets felt like greenwashing until I audited one

I signed up for a $50 monthly offset plan for my commute, but I was convinced it was just a feel-good tax. Then I actually dug into the project they funded - a methane capture system at a dairy farm in California - and saw the verified third-party reports showing real tonnage reduction. Has anyone else gone from skeptical to believer on a specific climate action tool?

...and honestly that's exactly how it went for me too. I was paying for a reforestation offset through my utility and figured it was just marketing fluff until I actually looked at the satellite imagery showing the trees over a five year span. Seeing the measurable growth and independent verification from a respected third party made me realize these programs can work when they're done right with real accountability.

@carr.lee What specific third party did the verification for your utility's program? Most of these offsets are basically trust me bro. I just want to know who's actually doing the checking so I can see if they're legit.
