Electric van vs gas box truck for city deliveries, I picked wrong
I run a small moving company in Austin and last year I leased a new electric van thinking it would save me money on fuel and maintenance. After 8 months of constant range anxiety on longer hauls and hunting for charging spots near apartment complexes, I borrowed my buddy's old gas box truck for a week and got way more done in less time. The electric van was great for short local trips but completely fell apart on anything over 30 miles with a full load. Has anyone else here tried making EVs work for hands on work and found a way around the range problem?

My 30 mile limit was more like 15 with all my tools and boxes, guess I bought the wrong kind of electric van.

Actually, most electric vans handle way more than 30 miles with a full load.

Wait, you're telling me these electric vans can actually do real range with a heavy load in the back? That's hard to believe, I gotta be honest. Every time I've looked into them, the numbers always seem to drop off a cliff once you start hauling tools and materials around. I figured 30 miles was about the max anyone could squeeze out of them with a full payload in real world driving. Are you saying the new ones are actually getting closer to 100 miles or more with a load?
