I was at the new solar farm outside Phoenix and the sheer scale of it just hit me. We're still building gas plants right next door.

Isn't that just how the grid works? We need power when the sun isn't shining.

Saw a thing about how some places are using old mines as giant batteries for solar power. They pump water up when the sun is out, then let it run down through turbines at night. Pretty wild way to store all that daytime energy.

That mine battery setup in Germany stores enough for like 400,000 homes... @ellis.leo, but what happens on a week of cloudy days? Does the water just run out?
