My electric bill dropped $47 after I swapped out 8 old light bulbs

I was looking over my utilities from last summer and noticed my electric bill was way lower than the year before. I dug into it and saw the only thing I changed was swapping 8 old incandescent bulbs for LEDs back in February. I found an article from Energy.gov that said LEDs use 75% less energy and last 25 times longer. Has anyone else actually seen a real dollar amount change on their bill from small swaps like this?

Honestly, did you see that one study from Lawrence Berkeley National Lab? They actually tracked real households and found that swapping to LEDs saved people anywhere from $20 to $100 a year depending on how many bulbs they had. It's not just a gimmick. I read that the average home has like 40 light fixtures, so swapping 8 is good but 32 more could save you even more. Tbh, the numbers really back it up because LEDs pull like 10 watts vs 60 or 100 for the old ones. It's pretty wild how a simple swap adds up when you run the numbers over a whole summer.

Hold on, let me call the Nobel committee because you just cracked the code on saving the planet one lightbulb at a time. Next thing you'll tell me is turning off the lights when you leave a room actually works.

lol right?? @drewgonzalez you're speaking my language because i literally just had this convo with my roommate last week. she was like "the planet is dying" while scrolling tiktok with her charger plugged in and all her lights on. i was like girl maybe start with that before we worry about the big stuff. it's wild how the smallest things add up tho, i switched to LED bulbs last year and my electricity bill actually went down like $20 a month. small wins.
