Showerthought: I was wasting so much water just letting the tap run while brushing my teeth

I was paying my water bill last month and saw the total was $85, which felt high. My kid pointed at the sink and said, "Dad, you leave the water on the whole time." I timed it... the tap runs for a full two minutes while I brush. Now I turn it off after wetting the brush and feel pretty silly. How much water do you think that actually wastes in a year?

My water bill dropped after fixing that same habit.

5,000 gallons? That's a lot of guilt showers.

Yeah, Susan's point about the bill dropping is so real. I looked it up once and a running tap can waste like 4 gallons a minute. For two brushes a day, that's over 5,000 gallons a year just from one person. It adds up crazy fast.
