The neighborhood rain garden I planted 6 years ago actually worked, lol

Put one in on my curb strip back in 2019 cause the city had a rebate, and this spring after those heavy April storms my basement stayed dry for the first time in 12 years while my neighbor's flooded twice. Anyone else see delayed payoff like this with green infrastructure or did I just get lucky with the soil?
