The programmable thermostat I mocked for 8 months just cut my bill by a third
Last January my utility company basically gave me a free smart thermostat with a rebate, and I rolled my eyes hard. I thought it was just another gadget to fiddle with, so I set it to one temperature and ignored it until my August bill came in at $212. That's when I finally let the app do its learning thing, booking in my work hours and my weekend sleep-ins. Two months later my bill dropped to $139 and I felt like an idiot for letting my pride cost me money. Has anyone else seen big savings after admitting the algorithm knows your schedule better than you do?
