Watching my neighbor's lawn sprinkler run in the rain made me rethink my whole watering schedule
Last Tuesday morning I was leaving for a job site and saw my neighbor's sprinklers going full blast during a downpour. I live in Phoenix where water is getting more expensive every quarter. That got me looking at my own habits and I realized I was watering my yard at noon three times a week like I had for 10 years. So I read up on it and now I water at 6am twice a week and cut my water bill by about $22 a month. The grass is actually greener too since less evaporates. Has anyone else made small changes like this that added up over time?

Oh man the time-of-use thing is real. I used to do laundry whenever and then I looked at my bill closer and realized I was paying like 18 cents per kWh during peak but only 9 cents after 9pm. Now I set timers on everything so the dishwasher and dryer kick on at 9:01. My wife hates the coffee maker thing too haha but honestly small tweaks add up fast. I even started unplugging my phone charger when not using it which probably saves like two bucks a month but whatever it counts.

Took me way too long to realize that running my dishwasher at night instead of during peak hours saved me like 15 bucks a month on the electric bill. I used to just start it after dinner without thinking about it. Then I read about time-of-use rates and shifted everything to after 9pm. Washer, dryer, dishwasher, even charging my phone overnight. My wife still runs the coffee maker at 6am though so we're not perfect. You ever check if your utility has different rates for different times of day?
