Can we talk about the push for more 5-axis setups in smaller shops

Three years ago at the shop in Dayton, we had one old 3-axis mill that did everything. Last month, the owner brought in a used 5-axis machine, and now half our new quotes are for complex parts that need it. Anyone else's shop seeing this shift, or is it just us?

But who's gonna run the thing when it breaks?

Wondering if this makes old-school machinists obsolete.

What about all the weird one-off jobs a CNC can't handle? I've seen guys fix ancient parts by eye and feel that would stump any programmer. That kind of problem solving doesn't just go away.
