Dropped $380 on a "quick change" tool holder system and it cost me 2 days of spindle time
Back in March I grabbed a pre-set tool holder kit for my Haas Mini Mill thinking it would kill my setup time, and instead the repeatability was off by 4 thou so every part needed a re-zero. I ate the return shipping plus a scraped job for a customer in Dayton, which put me about $380 and two full days in the hole before I went back to my old collets. Is it just me, or does anyone here actually get good repeatability out of those pre-set systems, or am I setting them up wrong?
