Finally bit the bullet on a proper edge finder

Spent about $45 on a decent one after eyeballing my offsets for way too long. It cut my setup time in half on a tricky aluminum job yesterday. Anyone have a favorite brand for these, or is a basic one good enough?

I got a SPI edge finder a few years back for around fifty bucks. The repeatability is rock solid compared to my old method of tapping a dowel pin. It just makes finding that true edge so much faster, especially on softer materials where you can't afford to be off. A good one is absolutely worth the money.

Totally agree on the softer materials part. Trying to find an edge on aluminum with a wobbly dowel pin is a nightmare. The edge finder just snaps over with such a clean, clear signal. It saves so much time and frustration on every single setup. That repeatability he mentioned is the real game changer.

The snap is so satisfying when it finally clicks over.
