Had a nightmare shift last Wednesday that made me rethink my approach
I was running a Haas VF-2 at a shop in Toledo and blew through 3 endmills in one 8-hour shift because I was pushing feed rate too hard on some 304 stainless. The scrap bin filled up with 12 bad parts before I finally slowed down to 40 IPM and took a .050 depth of cut. Anyone else have a day where you just couldn't dial in the speeds and feeds right?

Nah, sometimes you gotta push to find the limit. That's how you learn.

Oh man, I feel you completely... I had a shift just like that last month on a VF-3 where I tried to rough out some 316 stainless and shattered two 1/2" endmills before I even finished the first part. The whole day was just me chasing the right chip load while my foreman kept walking by shaking his head at the scrap pile. Finally dropped to a .060 DOC at 35 IPM and it ran smooth as butter, but I still lost half the shift to setup and cleanup.
