I finally spent $800 on a used Haas control retrofit kit

Picked it up off a guy retiring out of a shop near Charlotte, and it saved me from rebuilding an old Bridgeport that was collecting dust for two years. Has anyone else gone the retrofit route instead of buying new?

For that $800 Haas control actually work out of the box or did you have to chase gremlins with the wiring?" The part nobody talks about is the time it takes to get these things dialed in. I helped a buddy wire up a similar retrofit last year, and we spent two full weekends just tracing old wires from the Bridgeport. It worked eventually, but the manual was written for someone who already knows the machine backwards. You save money on the hardware, but you pay in weekend hours and frustration. If you're not comfortable with a multimeter and reading schematics, it's probably better to just buy new or find a running machine. The cost of your own time matters too.
