Offset numbers from 1998 still work, kids these days skip the basics
I caught a guy last week in Fresno running a brand new Haas and he had no idea how to read a wear offset without the screen telling him. Back in 1998 my first supervisor made me calculate every offset by hand for 3 months before I touched a control. That repetition sticks with you, and it saves your ass when a probe decides to lie on a Tuesday. Anyone else notice the new guys lean on the digital readouts way too much, or is it just my shop?

Yeah I've seen it too, hand calc the first one every morning and watch the screen lie right back at you.
