A guy at my local supply shop in Fort Worth kept pushing the polished inserts over the cheaper ground ones for finishing passes, and I figured it was just a sales pitch. Ran a batch of 40 parts on the Haas with the cheap insert first and got chatter marks on every face, so I swapped in the polished one and the finish came out mirror smooth with the same feeds and speeds. Has anyone else noticed this difference on aluminum, or did I just get lucky with that one insert?
