PSA: My coolant nozzles were aimed wrong for 6 months

Stopped by a shop in Cleveland last week and the operator laughed at my part finish. He pointed out my flood coolant was missing the cut zone by 2 inches. How often do you guys check your nozzle alignment?

Check them every tool change like Anna said. Pretty embarrassing when someone else catches it first though. I had a similar thing happen once, coolant was just barely missing the tip and I blamed the insert brand for a month. You feel like a real dummy when you finally see the stream hitting the holder instead of the cut.

Right @kellys78, it's like life... we always assume things are fine until someone shows us we're looking wrong.

That shop guy probably saved you from a lot of scrap parts. Did you ever notice anything weird about your finishes or tool life during those six months, or was it just running fine until he pointed it out? Seems like something you'd catch if you paid close attention to chip load or surface finish. I check mine every time I change an insert or tool, takes two seconds. Most guys just assume the coolant is hitting the cut, but it's easy to forget how much a tiny misalignment can mess things up.
