Realized my tool offsets were drifting because of a dust shoe I ignored for months

Been fighting random part sizes for like 3 weeks on my Haas VF-2 at the shop in Tulsa. Checked everything, backlash, spindle runout, even blamed the coolant. Turns out my dust shoe was filling up with chips and pushing my tool setter arm out of position by about 0.003 each time. Took 10 minutes to clean it out and reset it. Anyone else ever had a dust shoe mess with your offsets like that?

Yeah that "dust shoe filling up with chips" bit hit close to home, same thing happened on my VF-3 last year.

My buddy Dave had his Haas fill up with so many chips it looked like a snowdrift in there.
