Rough day when my spindle took a hit on a job in Detroit

I was running a 3/8 end mill through some 6061 aluminum on a Haas VF-2 last Tuesday when I heard this nasty chatter. Forgot to check my vise pressure after a part swap and the whole thing shifted about 0.015 inches. Ended up scrapping 12 parts worth $40 each before I caught it. Anyone else had a tool grab ruin a batch like that?

@elliot_patel did you seriously run 12 parts before noticing the shift, that's painful lmao

Did you check the oil in your quill after all that extra running? That much friction has to be eating something up.

Did you check your drawbar tension after that hit?
