Showerthought: I saw a Haas VF-2 at a local trade school and it changed how I think about training

I visited the tech college over in Millford last week and noticed their machine had a tablet interface with step-by-step guides built right in... It made me wonder if we're overcomplicating things for new guys on the shop floor. Do any of you use those guided operator modes on newer controls?

You said guided modes might just create button-pushers, but isn't that the whole point of a first step? If a tablet guide gets someone making good parts on day one, where's the harm? Don't we all have to learn the rules before we can break them?

That's a really good point about not overcomplicating training. The tablet guides sound like they could cut out a lot of the guesswork for someone just starting out. Makes me wish we had something that simple for teaching basic diagnostics. Do you think those guided modes actually build good habits, or do they just create button-pushers?

Guided modes create button-pushers" is a wild take.
