That cheap import probe kit cost me 40 minutes of setup and 12 scrap pieces

Picked up a $60 wireless probe set off the auction site last month, it read 0.015 off on the X axis and I didn't catch it until after the first batch ran, has anyone else had luck with aftermarket probes or should I just eat the cost for a Renishaw?

Man that sucks, finding out after a whole batch is the worst kind of surprise. I grabbed a cheap one too and it drifted like crazy after a few weeks, ended up redoing all my offsets twice before I gave up. Sometimes the gamble pays off, but when it doesnt it really hurts the wallet and the clock. Hope you can get some of those scrap pieces back as test cuts at least.

Swapped in a cheap one from a different brand just to test the waters and it held pretty steady for a month, so I ended up using it only for quick prototype cuts and kept the good spindle for anything real. That way the drift only bit me on junk pieces, not the actual paying jobs.
