That Tuesday when a 0.005 inch offset scrapped 14 parts before lunch
Last Tuesday I ran a batch of 6061 brackets on the VF-2 and everything looked fine on the first part. By 11am I had 14 scrapped parts because the tool was pulling about 0.005 out of true on the second op, and I only caught it after checking with a mic instead of the calipers. Turns out the vise jaw had a chip under it from the previous job, so the part was sitting crooked the whole time. I pulled the jaws, stoned them flat, and re-ran the rest of the batch without a single miss. What do you guys use to catch vise seat issues before they eat a whole run?
