The old timer who told me to skip the corner rounding end mill and just hand file

Guy with 40 years in the shop swore the file would be faster for a one-off part I was doing last Tuesday, and honestly he was right, saved me the setup time and the part came out clean. Are there other jobs where the classic manual tricks still beat the modern tooling?
