Vent: I just lost a whole shift's pay on a bad tool holder
Bought a cheap ER collet holder online for about $60 to save some cash. The runout was so bad it ruined a $200 part after the first cut. Had to scrap the piece and redo the setup, which killed four hours of shop time. Anyone know a good brand for holders that won't break the bank but actually holds true?

Ugh, that's the worst. The cheap stuff always bites you when you can least afford it. I learned that lesson the hard way too.

My buddy had the exact same thing happen with a bargain-bin end mill holder last year. He trashed a whole batch of aluminum brackets before he figured out the holder was the problem, not his setup. It's a brutal lesson that the cheap tooling often ends up costing way more. He swears by Maritool now for decent prices without the scary runout, says it saved his sanity.

Seriously, sixty bucks for a holder that trashed a two hundred dollar part? That's insane.
