A guy in my intro Java class told me to retype every example by hand and I almost quit
I sat next to this guy Marcus in a Tuesday night intro Java class at the community college back in March, and he noticed I was copying code straight from the slides into my editor. He said, "If you paste it, you skip the part where your brain has to guess what comes next." I thought it was the dumbest advice I had heard in weeks, and I ignored him for two more classes. Then my loop exercise blew up with 6 errors in a row, so I finally tried his way on a simple array program and actually caught my own typo in the condition. Now I retype everything, and it adds maybe 20 minutes per lesson. Did anyone else get pushed into this by a classmate, or is there a faster trick that still makes the ideas stick?
