I got a script to tidy up my download folder and it's so satisfying

I've been practicing with Python for a couple of weeks. I wrote a small program to sort files in my downloads by type, like images and documents. Figuring out how to check file extensions took some googling. Last night, it ran and moved everything into neat folders without errors. I was really happy watching it clean up the mess. This tiny success makes me want to code more handy tools. For new coders, start with a clutter problem you have at home.

Remembered cleaning out my junk drawer last month after avoiding it for years. Found old receipts, dead batteries, and enough loose change for a coffee. Sorting it into little containers felt just like your file organizing, weirdly peaceful for such a boring job. You ever get that fix from tidying up something physical instead of digital?

My toolkit in the garage was a mess for months until I sorted it last Saturday. Putting every screwdriver and wrench in its place felt so good, like I was fixing a part of my brain. @the_kim, your junk drawer story hits home because with physical stuff, you see the mess vanish right away. Digital cleaning doesn't give you that heavy tool feeling in your hands or the dust on your fingers. It's the real world weight that makes it satisfying, lol. I get why boring tasks can turn into a weird calm when you're actually moving things around.

Reorganized my spice rack last weekend and it gave me the same weird calm. Everything was a mess and now it's just little jars in a row, makes cooking way less annoying.
