I used to think learning JavaScript was a waste of time for a beginner.
Last year I was dead set on learning HTML and CSS first and thought JavaScript was something I could put off forever. I mean, I just wanted to make static websites look nice, you know? But then I joined a coding meetup in Austin back in February and a guy showed me how he added a simple dark mode toggle to his site with like 15 lines of JS. That little thing made the whole page feel alive and interactive. Last month I tried building my own to-do list app from a tutorial and now I actually get why people say JS is where the real fun starts. Idk, I guess seeing it work in front of me changed my mind. Has anyone else had a shift like this where you avoided a language then finally gave it a shot?

That dark mode toggle is exactly the kind of thing that hooks you. It's such a small win but it feels like magic the first time you click it and the whole page changes. Totally agree that seeing the result in front of you makes all the difference, theory only gets you so far. Building something real like that to-do list is where the concepts actually stick in your head. Once you get that first taste of making a page respond to what you do, it's hard to go back to just static layouts.
