Just realized I wasted $300 on a coding bootcamp that taught me nothing

I signed up for a 'full stack in 12 weeks' bootcamp last year, thinking it was the fast track. They promised job help and real projects. The first month was okay, but then they rushed through React and backend stuff so fast I couldn't keep up. The 'projects' were just copying code from a video, and the job help was a list of links to apply on your own. After the 12 weeks, I knew less than when I started because I was so confused. I'm back to learning on my own with free stuff online and it's way better. Has anyone else had a bad bootcamp experience and found a better way to learn?

What if the real value was in seeing what doesn't work for you?

Yeah, @anthony129 is right, those copy-paste tutorials just teach you to follow steps, not to actually code. You have to hit walls and fix your own broken stuff to really learn anything.

My buddy dropped five grand on a bootcamp that just had them follow a tutorial. They never explained why the code worked, just how to copy it. It left him more lost than before. I see a lot of those programs as cash grabs now. The free stuff online forces you to actually solve problems. What was the name of the bootcamp you used?
